The Natural News web site began running an article today titled, "Free Greg Caton from FDA tyranny; your help needed".  Our first impulse was to think, "Oh no, the F.D.A. is at it again" -- meaning we figured that the F.D.A. was once again using Gestapo tactics to eliminate competition on behalf of its pharmaceutical partners.  The darkness of their history precedes them.  This is not to say that the F.D.A. is always wrong legally and morally.  By fluke, accident, or divine intervention: occasionally the F.D.A. actually does something right and noble.  Really.  It has happened.

Adams' article about Mr. Caton included:

"Herbalist Greg Caton remains under arrest in the United States after having been illegally kidnapped and extradited from Ecuador by the FDA...  He faces a hearing on March 17th in a Louisiana court, and he needs your help... The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today stands accused of taking part in the kidnapping and illegal extradition of a permanent resident of Ecuador, in violation of both international law and Ecuadorian law."

Where Does Mike Adams Fit In, and Why Such Concern?

It sounds so terrible doesn't it?  Could the F.D.A. truly be involved in international crimes and kidnappings now?  Not really; but we do understand Mike's concern, since after all, he followed this guy's example explicitly -- moving to Ecuador himself, likely to escape U.S. jurisdiction about making unapproved medical claims on sponsored commercial products.  In fact, his relocation to Ecuador emboldened Adams to the point that you'll notice that he can't go for more than five minutes without dropping the name of a commercial product.  The money must be really good, but what exactly is his new help-to-harm ratio now that his recommendations are for sale?  Ultimately, will he end up being any better than the people he fought so hard against?  Mike was one of the people who inspired us to do what we are doing, and it is painful when former heroes fall so hard.  Watching Mike's fall from grace has been a reminder that the love of money is the root of all evil.

About Greg Caton: What Mike Adams Neglected To Mention

We did a little research on Greg Caton, and it was not long before we peered through the smoke and mirrors.  Greg was not some innocent Ecuadorian practicing medicine, who found himself snatched-up by a foreign power that is afraid of his too-powerful medicine.  Although, this would make a great story for a comic book.

Mr. Caton is an American citizen who fled to Ecuador during his probation from prison.  Funny how Mike missed that part.  Greg had been successfully criminally prosecuted for selling fraudulent medicines, and for making absurd medical claims about them.  We verified that virtually everything that he sells is a fraud, so Mr. Caton is not merely someone misinformed or mistaken.  He's a crook who thinks he is above the law.  Fleeing to another country whilst on probation to commit the same fraud crimes (that get people killed) hardly makes Mr. Caton a hero.  Perhaps he is a hero to business people like the new Mike Adams, but not us.

Examples Of Greg Caton's "Medicines"

These "miracles of medicine" are so absurd that we're not going to waste our time writing about them, at least not yet.  We wrote about a couple of them in the past, and we have put links to those stories, just above.  In most cases, these "treatments" not only are useless, but moreover, actually harm the patients.  It is not just a money thing here.  This guy is hurting people.  We have to wonder how many people died getting this guy's "help", and we think that Mike Adams ought to be much more careful about the company he keeps.

As health writers, we operate under two primary principles:  1. The Truth, and 2. Never Do Harm.   We pray that money never comes between us and these two core principles.
